Malibu Boats expanding operations to East Tennessee, creating 770 jobs
ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced on Monday that Malibu Boats will be expanding operations to East Tennessee.
Malibu Boats is investing $75 million to expand manufacturing into this region. State officials said this expansion will create 770 new jobs in Roane County over the next five years.
A press release from the governor said the company will locate some of its Cobalt boat production into a facility at the Roane Regional Business and Technology Park.
They add that Malibu Boats is one of the largest employers in East Tennessee. “The company designs, engineers, manufactures, markets, and sells recreational powerboats globally,” the press release stated.
The company expects to start production and hiring for the new facility in early 2024.
“Today’s announcement is proof that Tennessee has the right assets in place to support companies like Malibu Boats as they grow and expand. We are fortunate that Malibu Boats will continue to call the Volunteer State home and believe this company’s $75 million investment will transform the East Tennessee region for years to come,” said TNECD Commissioner Stuart McWhorter.
