Former Moc Terrell Owens Giving UTC Students a Lift During Homecoming

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Pretty cool scene on the UTC campus this week. NFL Hall of Famer and Mocs alum Terrell Owens is tootin’ around in a golf cart, giving students rides and pumping up Saturday’s homecoming game. T-O gave our own Brian Armstrong a ride along. Lucky for us, Brian didn’t turn it into carpool karaoke.

Said Owens: “Narcissist? Really? Really? Some might say that I’m a narcissist, but oh well.

Terrell Owens is back on UTC campus and gave News 12 a ride around the campus. For Owens, it was a trip down memory lane.

Said Owens: “So, I lived over here pretty much because that’s all I did was play basketball. So, even though I played football. I love basketball, so I was in here a lot of the time.

Exiting memory lane, we made a left down Terrell Owens Way.

Said Owens: “Yeah, they gave me my own street, and uh, yeah. That’s pretty much been the highlight of my life. Just, uh, getting a street named after me.

For the last few days, Owens has been driving his golf cart around campus.

Said Owens: “Well, they had me one day, and they said, you want to drive me around? And then I was like, man, I could do this myself. I could just get in a cart and, uh, you know, drive around, talk to the students.”

He’s been taking countless pictures, handing out popcorn, and of course, getting as many people to come out to the homecoming game on Saturday.

Said Owens: “I am trying to get the stands filled up, packed, just like all these other big schools. Let’s show some Moc pride, Moc

support, not only just for football, not just for homecoming, but every game.”

He’s made a few people’s days along the way.

Said Owens: “Let me tell you about the story about Aiden here. So Aiden tried to come and give me some dap yesterday. He had on a UT Knoxville, he had a UT shirt on and that wasn’t happening. So guess what Aiden did? Got in some UTC merch, you know what I mean? A little bit, a little bit. ”

Said Mocs staffer Chuck Nally: “a place like UTC that’s not, you know, huge or really known for  Hall of Fame football players. It’s really cool that he came back. ”

Chattanooga hosts Western Carolina Saturday at 4pm for homecoming.
