Vols Glad to Have Veteran Center Cooper Mays Back in Action
Vols veteran center Cooper Mays finally got on the field last Saturday against South Carolina. He missed the first four games of the year after reportedly undergoing hernia surgery.
Seems Mays made a difference against the Gamecocks as UT rushed for 238-yards.
Said Mays:”It felt good for me to get out there. Be with my teammates. that was the hardest part of being out. So just getting back and being able to get in the swing of things and find a little bit of rhythm was good.”
Reporter:”IN what ways does a healthy Cooper Mays impact this offense the most?”
Said head coach Josh Heupel:”Smart. Tough. Competitive. Ability to communicate. Get all five guys on the same page within our tempo. That’s extremely important. It’s important in every offense, but when you’re playing tempo, recognition of what’s going on up-front. Lot of moving pieces before the snap.”
