Mocs SoCon Grind Continues With Long Road Trip to VMI
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Even though it’s not quite November, it feels like a long season already for the Mocs.
They kicked off on September second, and they’ve haven’t slowed down since.
Mocs can’t catch a break when it comes to their schedule this year.
10 straight weeks of football, including their entire SoCon slate.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”There’s no way the Southern Conference should ever let that happen. It’s. No way we should be finished playing in our conference games and every
body else has two conference games left. There’s no way that should ever happen.”
The grind is even tougher this week.
How bout a six to seven hour bus ride to VMI.
Said Wright:”Get to catch up on a bunch of movies. You leave at 9:30 in the morning. I’ve got no idea what comes on after ‘Good Morning America’ or whatever it is. Kelly and John or whatever his name is.”
That’s ‘Kelly and Mark’ coach.
Said Wright:”We’ll get on the bus and probably go for about four hours and get off at Virginia Tech. Go do a walk-though there in their facility.”
Once the team finally gets to VMI, the setting is just kind of weird.
Said Wright:”You know it’s a different atmosphere. There’s nobody on your side of the stands really except your parents that are coming to the game to watch it. Maybe a couple of friends if you have them. Turn the music off after stretch like you’ve got to bring your own juice this week. It is what it is.”
Said tight end Camden Overton:”I’ve never been. I’m still excited to go play. It’s football at the end of the day. Juice or no juice we still have to go play.”
Said linebacker Kobe Joseph:”I’m not sure about the environment. As you said it might be a little quiet. That doesn’t concern me at all. With the guys we have we are going to lock in and get it done.”
