Mocs Host Furman in Battle For SoCon Crown
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Furman vs Chattanooga.
Paladins are ranked 2nd in the country.
Mocs are ranked 13th.
The winner earns at least a share of the SoCon title.
Sounds like a classic showdown for Saturday at Finley Stadium.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”We know how important it is. Sure we do. Kids know. I know. They know.”
And the Mocs know how good Furman is too.
Wright:”They’re a good football team. All three sides. Offense. Defense. Special teams. They’re solid. Quarterback is a good player. Really good player. Running back is a really good player. They’re good up-front on the offensive line.”
Said running back Gino Appleberry:”Furman is a big, physical team. They have big interior defensive linemen. Big linebackers. It’s always a dogfight when we play them.”
Said defensive lineman Ben Brewton:”Their
will to execute. They have a big will to execute and get things done. So I think that will be the toughest thing about them.”
The game will certainly test the will of both teams.
Said Brewton:”That’s what you dream about everyday man. Getting to play for something in November is a big thing.”
Said Appleberry:”It’s always an exciting feeling to play for something big. You come here and you work all year long just for moments like this.”
Buckle up baby for a title fight.
Said Wright:”I told somebody yesterday that it’s like a Civil War reenactment in the locker room before game time because there’s bandages and tape and stuff all over the place trying to patch guys together, but they give us everything they have. I’m sure they will do it Saturday, and we’ll go play and see what it’s like.”
Kickoff from Finley Stadium is set for 1:30pm.
