Cleveland’s Halloween Block Party draws in the crowd
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – Cleveland celebrated Halloween in style Tuesday night.
Shari Tayloe the District Attorney for 10th Judicial District said, “So this block party has been going on for well over 20 years and it is a great event for the community to come out. It is a safe place to bring your kids. The community has come out with candy for the kids, and it is great to see the community come out again and have a good time.”
There was plenty to do from 5 to 10 p.m.
“Well, the candy line is just a long line. M&Ms from Mars have come out to sponsor, and they have candy for the kids. Churches have come out and set up booths and they have candy. You can get your pictures made. There are a lot of good food trucks out here. A lot of good things are going on,” said Tayloe.
There was a costume contest as well.
Dewayne Williams the General Manager Mix 104.1 said, “We actually for the first time this year hosted a costume contest and had tons of great, creative costumes from zero all the way to adult. One of the things we did this year is we had a theme for families. It was the first time we did a family competition and that went really well this year.”
Cleveland is glad it can give back to its community and the surrounding areas.
“This is a way for the community to show whether you live in Chattanooga or Cleveland or McMinn County, we have people from Georgia as well. We have even had people visiting here from Florida who came up because they knew this was going on this weekend. It is a great way to showcase Cleveland and Bradley County and show how open we are to other outlying communities,” said Williams.
The Halloween Block Party has been a staple for Cleveland throughout the years.
