Fort Oglethorpe chase ends with PIT maneuver in Tennessee
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga woman is in jail after running from cops while under the influence of drugs.
The pursuit of 34-year-old Alexis Nicole Rauch started on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe Wednesday night. Rauch is from Jefferson City, Tennessee, according to GSP. But jail records show her current address is in Chattanooga.
The incident started at around 6:40 p.m. when Rauch made an improper lane change and almost hit a Georgia State Patrol (GSP) car.
The trooper pulled Rauch over, but she gave them a fake name and then fled. The trooper noted that Rauch was making jerky movements, and her face was twitching.
GSP said she violated numerous traffic laws and drove recklessly during the pursuit. They said she even drove on the wrong side of the road at times.
Authorities attempted two PIT maneuvers on Battlefield Parkway, which were not successful. Rauch traveled from Catoosa County into Walker County.
She then traveled north on Wilson Road into Tennessee and later got on U.S. Highway 27. GSP said she later traveled back to Workman Road, where a trooper finally performed a successful PIT maneuver and stopped her.
Authorities say Chattanooga Police arrested and booked Rauch into the Hamilton County Jail.
There were no injuries during the chase, according to GSP.
Hamilton County authorities are charging Rauch with felony fleeing, felony drug possession (meth), driving under the influence of drugs and several other charges related to the chase. Catoosa County also has warrants for her extradition.
