Quarterback Kamden Wellington Striking Up Success For South Pittsburg
South Pittsburg, TN-(WDEF-TV) South Pittsburg football is living up to the high standards South Pittsburg has come to expect.
The team is still unbeaten and are lead by quarterback Kamden Wellington who is a back to back Mr Football nomination.
You can’t put a value on, you know, how, how much we value those guys and how important they are to, you know, our offense. South Pittsburgh quarterback Camden Wellington is having an impressive season leading to an unbeaten record so far and a Mr. Football semifinalist nomination. It’s really nice to get that recognition because it just shows how much of the hard work I’ve put in over the summer in the past two years.
It’s just a tribute to him and how hard he’s worked. Uh, you know, Going into last season, that was the first year he started at quarterback. So just the, you know, the process of, of going through the program, getting better with his, with his footwork, his mechanics, everything. It’s like I said, it’s a tribute to him.
Despite last year being his first year at quarterback for the Pirates, this is the second year he has been nominated for Mr Football nomination. Last year, it was really surprising to me with it being my first year and, like, having this big season I had last year, but this year to get it twice, it really shows that, uh, I’ve been working really hard, but, you know, I just like the people to know that last year wasn’t a fluke, and I’m the real deal, and I’m here to put in the work.
He threw it a lot more than we would have liked. last year, and some of that was because we didn’t do a good job of running the football last year. You know, his numbers this year aren’t quite what they were last year, but we feel like he’s more polished and a better quarterback than he was this time a year ago.
Now, the season is focused on improving on last year’s disappointing season. Last year was a disappointing season going on. I’m just not coming really short of the goal that we had in mind, but this year like all the hard work in the weight room and all the practice time and everything we put in like it’s really special this season.
