Mocs Have High Hopes For Former NW Whitfield Defensive Tackle Isaiah Mack

Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Mocs football team needs to plug some holes on the defensive front this season.

And one young gun they’re counting on is former Northwest Whitfield standout Isaiah Mack.
Said head coach Russ Huesman,"Isaiah Mack out of Northwest Whitfield we think is going to be a star."
That’s a pretty bold projection, and Mack is not quite sure how to respond.
"It’s just. (pause)  I don’t have any words. I’m just out here trying to play. I really don’t think about it too much."
Mocs defensive line coach Marcus West is not at a loss for words concerning Isaiah Mack.
"He has the explosion, the violence, the speed to be as good as any tackle that we have ever signed here."
Wow. Huesman adds that Mack has one of the coveted traits of a good defensive lineman.
"To play defense here, you better be able to run, and he can really run. He can go sideline-to-sideline."
Mack redshirted his freshman year, but he didn’t act like a redshirt.
Said West,"He ruffled some feathers on the scout team last year. No question, you can ask anybody on this team, especially on the offensive line, Isaiah Mack took his redshirt year to get better.
Mack is eager to tap into his potential this season.
"I can’t really express how excited I am. Finally not to be redshirted let’s put it that way. To finally be on the field is the best feeling I can express."
Said Huesman,"Whether he’s a star next year or not, I just hope he’s a good, solid player. But I think he’s got a bright, bright future for us."
