Dunlap’s Game Shack Cafe celebrates ‘Small Business Saturday’
DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) — Communities across the nation celebrated small businesses on November 25 for ‘Small Business Saturday.’
In the small town of Dunlap, the Game Shack Cafe is a popular stop for both residents and visitors.
“Small business Saturday is super important to not just us but every business down here in downtown. This is the one day that we really get to shine,” owner and operator of the Game Shack Cafe, Sarah Black said.
Black opened up the unique small business in the heart of downtown Dunlap in December of 2020.
The Dunlap community has supported this eclectic shop since it opened just after the pandemic.
“It’s just kind of a place for people to come socialize or some of the people who work from home.. Which has been a big change in the last few years. They can come and it’s just a change of scenery… Place to come and work and get out of their houses for a minute,” Black said.
The unique cafe has vintage games along with their creative-themed flavors.
As the cafe is coming up on its third year of business, Black wanted to commemorate ‘Small Business Saturday’ in a thoughtful way for her devoted customers.
“We also like to try and do something special and give back, so we launched our keychains which are a subscription thing and very limited, but our regulars – the ones who buy them– will get 10% off everyday for their drinks and for the people who come in here and buy everyday, they’re going to save way more than they’re going to pay for those keychains,” Black said.
The cafe receives customers traveling through the area as well as long-time Dunlap residents.
They look forward to continuing to support their Dunlap community by providing a unique place for people to gather together in the quaint small town.
