All burning in Catoosa County banned until further notice

CATOOSA COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Burning outdoors is banned until further notice in Catoosa County.

The Board of Commissioners adopted an emergency resolution to declare the burn ban.

County officials say this is because of the extreme drought the area has faced recently.

They say these weather conditions increase the dangers of brush, forest and wildfires. Such fires can cause a risk to property, health, safety and welfare of county residents, according to commissioners.

In this resolution, no outdoor burning is allowed. This includes burning leaves, brush, debris, campfires or trash.

The ban will remain in effect until the Board of Commissioners repeals the emergency declaration. This will be decided based on advice from the Catoosa County Fire Department and Georgia Forestry Commission.
