Ten people charged with stealing wire from communications poles
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested ten people for wire theft, following a three-month investigation.
These people cut live AT&T and Charter Communications wiring off of poles, burned the plastic off the wiring and sold the copper to local scrap yards, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities arrested the following individuals for wire theft:
- Shane Basler
- Terry Davis
- Mitchell Elsea
- Makayla Frizzell
- Michael Kostiuk
- Bailey McNabb
- Tracy Monds
- James Perry
- Christopher Sharber
- James Webb
Hamilton County authorities charged these ten people with vandalism of critical infrastructure and theft of property over $10,000.
These thefts resulted in a loss of $250,000 in copper wire.
This investigation also led detectives to additional thefts in Marion County, according to the HCSO.
