Soddy-Daisy Post Office recovering from delays
SODDY-DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Soddy-Daisy Post Office is trying to recover from a backup in mail deliveries.
In a statement on social media, Representative Chuck Fleischmann said that the USPS had acknowledged there was a backup of mail deliveries due to low staffing.
He said that the postal service has agreed to bring in an interim staff to help out the postal service but says these delays are a part of national issues.
The postal service sent us this statement:
“The Postal Service always strives to provide the best possible service, all year long and during the extremely busy holiday season, which is now underway. In this specific case, increased volume was received at this location and the local office took immediate steps to ensure all packages were secured and protected from the elements. We are continuing to monitor the issue and will act swiftly to properly handle all items received.“
When News 12 went by this afternoon, multiple bins of mail were still sitting outside of the post office.
No word on when service will fully catch up.
