“After School Satan Club” coming to Tennessee elementary school

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WDEF) — Parents are taking to social media to express their displeasure with a new after-school club coming to an elementary school in Tennessee.

A post to Facebook and Twitter reads, “After School Satan Club is coming to Tennessee!”

The club will be hosted at Chimneyrock Elementary School in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Satanic Temple announced on December 12 that the after-school club will begin on January 10, 2024.

They say they are a non-theistic religion that views Satan as a literary figure.

The group claims they do not try to convert children to any religious ideology. They say they advise children to think for themselves.

The after-school club plans to offer science projects, community service projects, puzzles, games and more to children who attend.

Memphis-Shelby County Schools claims they do not endorse or support the Satanic Temple.

The school system also said they cannot deny a request to use their facilities based on the organization’s viewpoints.
