Veterans learn about new resources available through PACT Act
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A resource fair was held Thursday afternoon for veterans to learn more about their updated benefits with a recent act passed in Congress.
The PACT Act is a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange and other toxic substances.
The Veterans Benefit Administration also offered resources concerning disability and eligibility information about veteran claims.
The organization travels across the state with programs for veterans.
Healthcare and Veteran Crisis Suicide Prevention resources were big aspects of these resource fairs.
“What this new legislation accomplished is, it expanded benefits to a whole new segment of veterans who might otherwise not be eligible for VA benefits– that’s care, that’s disability compensation,” explained Joshua Cox, PACT Act public affairs specialist.
If veterans were not eligible for certain benefits in the past, they may qualify for updated support.
The organization wanted to encourage veterans to check updated legislation and see how healthcare benefits may help them.
