Man charged with homicide after November 29th incident
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga woman’s death from last month is now being ruled as a homicide.
On November 29 around 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for an unconscious person in the 2600 block of Carr Street.
When authorities arrived, they found a 48-year-old woman unconscious inside a residence.
The Chattanooga Fire Department and HCEMS responded to the scene, where they pronounced the woman dead.
Authorities initially did not know what caused her death.
CPD Homicide Investigators continued the investigation and worked with the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the manner and cause of death.
Earlier on Friday, the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office officially ruled this case a homicide.
Homicide Investigators secured arrest warrants for 43-year-old Lawrence Goodine for the following (3) charges:
- First-degree murder
- Aggravated kidnapping
- Tampering with evidence
CPD’s Fugitive Unit worked with the United States Marshals Service to locate the suspect.
They found Goodine in Glade, Tennessee and transported him back to Hamilton County.
He will be booked into the Hamilton County Jail.
Participating agencies included CPD’s Fugitive Unit, USMS, TBI, and Fairfield Glad Police.
