Calhoun Turf Company to be Featured at National Championship

CALHOUN, Ga. (WDEF)-  A company based in Calhoun, Georgia will be in the national spotlight over the next few weeks.

Shaw Sports Turf has been named as the Official Synthetic Turf Provider of the College Football Playoff.

Shaw says they create a unique kind of synthetic turf called Game On, which they say makes the process of making new football fields more streamlined.

Chuck McClurg, the Vice President of the Shaw turf division, said, “The patented technology allows logos, lines, and numbers to be tufted together during the manufacturing process, which limits the number of seams in a field, and offers the chance to create some really amazing and unique designs.”

Fans who go to the national championship in Houston will be able to feel replica fields for themselves outside of NRG Stadium.

The winners of the Rose and Sugar Bowls will get to play on Shaw’s field in two weeks.
