UTC Women’s Golf Team Set to Host the Chattanooga Classic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—April 2009. That’s the last time the Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team played in front of a home crowd. That 54-hole tournament, played at Lookout Mountain Golf Club, was shortened to 18 due to sleet. Head Coach Colette Murray is hoping for a little better forecast for Monday.

“I don’t think we’ll see it that bad (as 2009), but I’m hoping we can dodge the rain,” Murray said. “We are very excited to play in front of our supporters. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

“We appreciate Council Fire for hosting and look forward to our Mocs fans joining us both days.”

The Mocs are coming off one of the best rounds in school history. The squad shot 2-under 286 in the final 18 at the Briar’s Creek Invitational. This is the final regular season event before the five-time defending Southern Conference Champions tackle the league field April 12-14 at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga.

The Chattanooga Classic begins with 36 holes Monday, April 6, and concludes with 18 on Tuesday. Both days are a 9 a.m., shotgun start. The Mocs starters begin on holes 1-5, while the two individuals lead off on 17 and 18.
