Desiree Hester now booked into the Hamilton County jail

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – The prime suspect in a carjacking incident that happened earlier this week is now back in Chattanooga.

Desiree Hester, 19, of Nashville was booked into the Hamilton County jail Thursday night and charged with one count of carjacking and one count of aggravated assault.

Police say On March 30, Hester carjacked a woman inside an apartment complex while trying to get away from Georgia state troopers who chased her and her boyfriend, Tyrell Flenoy, 20, of Nashville.

The chase began in North Georgia and crossed state lines into Tennessee where the suspects car was forced off the road along I-24 near the 4th Avenue exit ramp in Chattanooga.

Authorities say Flenoy took off running and got away.

Authorities say Hester also took off running and made her way to a nearby apartment complex where she carjacked a woman.

The victim agreed to speak with WDEF as long as her identity was not revealed. She said she was in her car at her apartment complex mailbox area when Hester walked up to her and asked for a ride. The victim told WDEF she refused to give Hester a ride then Hester pulled out an object that looked like a knife and forced her out the vehicle. During the alleged carjacking, the victim was struck by her own car and suffered a serious injury to her foot.

The woman told WDEF she will have to undergo surgery next week.

Hester was eventually captured in Nashville hours after she was placed on the TBI most wanted list while Flenoy remains on the loose.

She was transported back to Chattanooga where she will face charges in connection to the carjacking.

Police say the victim positively identified Hester through a photo lineup.

According to the TBI, both Hester and Flenoy are Blood gang members.

Hester’s bond was set at $95,000. She is due in court April 21.
