Rhea County man arrested for TennCare fraud again

Rhea County, TN (WDEF) A Rhea County man faces TennCare fraud charges for the second time.

A Hamilton County Grand Jury indicted 23-year old Michael D. Smith, of Dayton with doctor shopping.

That’s when a person goes to multiple doctors in a short period of time trying to get controlled substances and used TennCare to pay for it.

He’s also charged with obtaining controlled substances by fraud.

Smith was arrested in December for allegedly forging his grandmother’s signature to get a prescription for Oxycodone in Rhea County.
