Three Families Displaced After Collegedale Fire Destroys Three Apartments
This video taken by Jaque Cantrell’s son Alan shows the fire raging through the apartment triplex Tuesday night.
Three units from Tri-county Volunteer Fire Department responded.
Everyone escaped from the blaze but this car and most of the building were destroyed.
One resident and a Collegedale police officer received minor burns.
Amy Maxwell, Hamilton County EMS,"His injury was caused by assisting a disabled resident from the house or triplex and the fire was so intense and had so much heat that’s the area of the skin that was exposed."
Neighbors were concerned fire crews would not have access to water to get the fire under control.
Bernard Wotton, Neighbor,"Full of cars, full of firemen, fire engines, lining the street, because the fire hydrant is at the end of that road down there, so had to have a long hose and fire trucks pumping the water up here."
The American Red Cross is now helping the three families affected.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
100,000 dollars worth of damage was done to the apartments.
A fire damage restoration specialist tells News 12 the fire was so intense the building can not be salvaged.
