Asian Lantern Festival to celebrate last showing on Sunday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The final night of the Asian Lantern Festival will be lighting up the Chattanooga Zoo on Sunday, Jan. 14.
The zoo is hosting the final display from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
During closing weekend, a special ‘Pop-Up Project’ will be presented.
According to the Zoo website: “Starting at 6:30 PM each night, the Pop-Up Project will present a 50-minute immersive dance performance that travels throughout the zoo during the festival and encourages exploration, play and audience interaction! This unique dance performance, inspired by traditional Chinese folklore, features original choreography created by local artists, live music and aerialists.”

The Asian Lantern Festival has graced the Chattanooga Zoo since November 16, 2023. The zoo is celebrating the last night of the festival on Sunday, January 14, 2024 with special events.
The festival began on November 16 and has graced the zoo’s quarters for roughly two months.
It started at the zoo in 2022, and has continued this past year with even more marvelous lantern displays.
People of all ages have had the chance to learn more about Asian culture this winter.
Showings were offered Wednesday through Sunday nights at the zoo.
Over 30 lanterns and nine interactive displays were showcased.
Tickets are still available online and at the gate for the last showing.
