Mummified body found in California hoarding case house

San Francisco, CA (KPIX) The mystery of a mummifed body found inside this house is deepened by a severe case of hoarding.

San Francisco Supervisor Eric Mar says, "The hoarding is reportedly so bad that it’s up to the ceiling."

There was so much trash inside… clean up workers and firefighters had a hard time getting in.

And once they got in… the smell was so bad… firefighters had to wear oxygen masks.

Mar says, "Public health was dealing with rats inside and spiders like black widows."

Eric mar is the supervisor of this inner Richmond Neighborhood.

He says it took workers a few days to remove some of the trash before discovering the body Saturday.

Police believe the body was a 90 year old woman who died about 5 years ago.

Her 65-year-old daughter who lives here apparently knew about the body… but no one knows why she didn’t say anything until recently.

Many neighbors are creeped out by what’s described as a mummified body.

Neighbor Lucy Tai says, "I’m kind of sad. I’m feeling afraid. I’m afraid."

Lucy Tai lives across the street.

She says she hadn’t seen the 90-year-old woman in a long time… and the woman’s daughter is pretty quiet.

She says, "I tried to befriend her. I said hi to her and she turned away and didn’t want to make friend."
