Cab driver robbed at gunpoint: Suspect captured
According to the arrest affidavit, officers were called to the 1000 block of North Hickory Street to investigate a disorder but when they arrived, they stumbled upon an armed robbery in progress.
The arresting officers said when he arrived on scene, Gregory Scott, 32, of Chattanooga raised his hands and said "nothing is going on here."
The officers said when they asked Scott to walk over and talk to them, a Mercury Cab driver yelled out that Scott had a gun.
The officers detained Scott at gunpoint until they could find the gun which was located on the ground.
While searching Scott, officers found $227 in cash on him as well as a pocket knife.
The cab driver told police Scott got into his vehicle then placed a handgun in his mouth and held a knife to his throat while demanding cash. The driver told police he handed Scott $227.
According to the driver, Scott took the cash and exited the cab right after police arrived on scene.
Scott is being held on a $100,000 bond.
Scott is no stranger to trouble. According to a WDEF background check, he has a criminal rap sheet nearly two pages long that dates back to 1998. To date, Scott has been convicted on several charges of assault, drug possession, burglary and aggravated statutory rape.
