Progress Report: Harvest Grocery Bringing Organic to Hixson
But this one has a niche.
Harvest Grocery promises organic and gluten free products.
They plan to open around May 20th and are hiring workers right now.
The last day of their job fair is Saturday from 10 to four at the store.
And we got a sneak peak inside on Friday.

Workers are still putting the finishing touches on the building.
Store coolers and shelves are in, but they will wait until the last couple of days before opening to stock them.

Harvest Grocery is the brain child of two local men, a developer and a doctor.
They share a vision for healthy food.
The doctor will be in the store on Saturdays to advice shoppers on what they need.
CEO Tim McClure says Hixson is an under served area for organic food.
"People are wanting to eat better, to feel better, they’re wanting to live longer. That’s why we brought what we brought to Hixson."

Harvest Grocery will boast a brick oven for pizza, a sushi bar, gelato bar plus coffee and juices.
They also will prepare foods for dining in or taking out.

Plus they are lining up locally sourced products, like honey from Hamilton County and Brasstown Beef from western North Carolina.
It’s an experience they say you now have to drive to Chattanooga to find.

Harvest Grocery is located at 5414 Hixson Pike, between Northgate and the Bi Lo.
We’ll keep you posted on their grand opening plans as we get closer to May 20th.
You can learn more about Harvest Grocery at their website.
And one other tidbit. The owners are planning more Harvest Groceries in the future.
(If you have questions about a construction project in your area or details on a store opening, we’d love to publish it in our Progress Report. Send an email to wparker@wdef.com.)
