Here are just a few tips the department wants you to keep in mind as it continues to be cold this winter:
- Give yourself plenty of time to get to your final destination
- Decrease your driving speed and leave yourself plenty of room to stop
- Brake gently to avoid skidding on ice/snow. If your wheels lock up, ease off the brake.
- Use low gears on your vehicle to keep traction, especially on hills.
- Be careful on bridges, overpasses and infrequently traveled roads.
- ALWAYS BUCKLE UP!
