Shred-A-Thon 2015

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – In honor of the end of tax day, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a shred-a-thon Saturday.

Anyone can bring their old documents out and shred them for free.

All you have to do is bring them to Sheriff’s Annex on Dayton Boulevard from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Officials says it’s a good idea to shred papers for safety reasons.

Deputy Chief Allen Branham says, "Especially today with identity theft being as prevalent, anything you can do to get rid of your personal documentation, financial records, is very important that you keep them under lock and key, keep them, the ones you have to have the ones you don’t, get rid of them because uh, even years down the road somebody can get your information off of a piece of paper and cause you some damage."

There is a three box limit per person.
