American Lung Association Raising Awareness Of Lung Cancer
Phil Khan, Director Of Business Development For Bradley Medical Equipment,"It’s growing exponentially every year and more and more are getting it and many don’t realize they are susceptible".
Khan has spent his life helping asthma, lung cancer and COPD suffers and is concerned that the numbers keep rising.
"Probably we are seeing more cases being found out but also environment has changed, we lived in sealed buildings, different food processes, lifestyle changes, we now live a sedentary lifestyle".
One in ten non smokers will also get lung disease.
Shirley Cudabac, American Lung Association in Chattanooga,"They need to be screened, it’s not necessarily because they smoked it could be anything from radon, second hand smoke or in genes, they need to be checked out".
Lung Association teams will spend the first three weeks of May raising funds to fight lung cancer and help victim’s and their families in the Tennessee Valley.
"We are going to visit CVS stores, everybody in the viewing area needs to visit the CVS stores and donate to our lung force campaign, last year we raised 3.6 million dollars".
The Lung Association are also hoping to have Chattanooga’s landmark buildings turn their trademark turquoise in mid May to raise awareness.
