TSA Demonstrate How To Safely and Legally Transport Guns By Plane
Ten of those incidents occurred at Chattanooga airport and there already been two new cases in 2015.
TSA agent Mark Howell says there’s a safe and legal way to transport weapons while traveling by air.
Mark Howell, TSA, "The biggest thing you need to do is have it in a hard sided case, unloaded, make sure your ammunition is stored solid without it shaking around in the box, you have to declare it to the airline, make sure they know you are taking it, you are going to call someone up from TSA to check your box."
Howell adds having the correct documentation is key including your gun permit and valid I.D.
Chattanooga airport’s president says demonstrations like this are important with so many gun owners and hunters in the Tennessee Valley.
Terry Hart, Chattanooga Airport President, "There’s a lot of people who are outdoors and lots of activities outdoorsy and it’s important, you will see a lot of those items coming through an airport such as this".
Chattanooga passengers and airport visitors found the ten minute presentation educational.

TSA tell passengers it’s important to ask when you submit your gun for flight, where to pick it once the plane lands.
TSA agents also stressed the importance of having at least one lock and a sticker with contact information on your gun carry case.
