Winter Skating at Stable 41 closes for the season
FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. (WDEF) – Winter Skating at Stable 41 in Fort Oglethorpe is coming to an end Wednesday.
City representatives announced the rink will close at 6 p.m. on January 31 and reopen next winter.
Winter Skating at Stable 41 opened for business back in November.
The City of Fort Oglethorpe said they had a great turn out this season.
The rink was made of “glice,” which is not real ice. It was synthetic ice, made for skating no matter the weather. It was also located under a pavilion to protect skaters from the rain.
“A lot of times kids get out of practice and then they just come right over. The community told us when we were doing our RSVP plan a few years ago that they wanted something to do, and so Stable 41 is the Farmers Market pavilion in the summer, and in the winter, it is winter skating. We just want to give people something to do,” said Taylor Hutwagner, Director of Economic Development for Fort Oglethorpe.
Crews will be taking down the setup next Tuesday.
But city representatives say the winter skating rink will make its return on November 23, 2024.
