Cash reward offered in Monroe County wanted fugitive case

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones is warning the public of a wanted fugitive.

Authorities are searching for Matthew Hughes, a man in his mid-twenties.

He is wanted for several burglaries in Monroe County.

Hughes also has several out of state warrants for burglary, terroristic threats and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Sheriff Jones says he was last seen in the Maple Springs community, wearing blue clothing.

He also says Hughes is considered armed and dangerous.

If you see him, do not approach him, and call 911 immediately. You may remain anonymous.

The sheriff says they are offering a cash reward for information that leads to his capture.
