Marion County Couple Accused of Growing Pot As Poll Shows 53% of Americans Now In Support of Legal Marijuana
Lt.Gregory Rowe, Kimball Police, "They served a search warrant and they found an indoor grow, a marijuana grow of about 20 plants, an adult male and adult female and two small children were also present".
Investigators found this equipment including lights and a trough as well as these plants in the home.
Amanda Reed was well known in both Kimball and Jasper and had worked at a local fast food restaurant.
Self-proclaimed reformed felon Tim Sloan wants law enforcement to spend less time targeting marijuana growers.
Tim Sloan, Marion County,"Crack down a bit harder on these sex offenders things like that, they are running all across these playgrounds around here, police round here they keep it local".
Former trustee Sloan has been in and out of Marion County jail for the past 13 years and his brother Kevin is currently doing time.
Others feel marijuana is a major concern.
Mary Jones, Marion County,"I think they need to be catching all of the people that’s growing marijuana and fooling with drugs".
Marion County Sheriff Ronnie "Bo" Burnett tells News 12 he understands the frustrations of some residents as pot becomes decriminalized in more states but remains illegal in Tennessee.
"I think there is probably some uses there for that and I wouldn’t object to that or against it, if somebody is sick and they have got a terminal illness give them a few more months by using this, I would support that".
Tennessee law states owning more than ten marijuana plants is a class D felony charge.
Cannabis oil is legal in Georgia for medical use.
