According to the HCSO, Crump was wanted for multiple burglaries around Chattanooga. They believed he was responsible for breaking into North Georgia Reloaders and stealing firearms and ammunition. The HCSO said the suspect also tried to break into Academy Sports on Gunbarrel Road.

Authorities presumed Crump to be armed and dangerous.

The sheriff’s office learned that Chattanooga Police were attempting to stop Crump at around 11:30 p.m. on March 2. Deputies then responded to help near Lee Highway.

Deputies tried to stop his car with spike strips several times without success. They then performed a PIT maneuver, causing Crump to crash near the 2200 block of Wilson Street.

The HCSO said he then hit a marked patrol car head on, and deputies took him into custody.

Crump now faces the following charges:

  • DUI
  • Driving on revoked or suspended license
  • Theft of property
  • Burglary
  • Vandalism/Malicious mischief
  • Theft of property (car over $10,000)
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Stop sign violation
  • Reckless driving
  • Aggravated assault
  • Felony evading arrest

“Let me be clear… Do not run from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. My deputies are specifically trained to stop a pursuit and we will not tolerate criminals who prey upon this county. If you choose to commit criminal acts and endanger innocent motorists and law enforcement by choosing to flee, my deputies will stop you,” stated Sheriff Austin Garrett.

No one was injured during the pursuit, authorities said.
