Sweetens Cove Golf Course Closing This Summer For Repairs After Harsh Winter
Tough news for the popular Sweetens Cove golf course in Marion County. They’ll be closed all summer. They’re shutting down for three months starting on May 27th.
They’re schedule to re-open on September 1st.
A harsh winter wreaked havoc on the bermuda grass at the nine-hole venue.
According to a tweet from Sweetens Cove:
“This winter we experienced an unbelievably harsh three week stretch of weather, which brought six inches of snow, and then turned into ice. Mixed with some unbearably cold temperatures over 13 days. These conditions are not favorable to our dormant Bermuda grass. We took all the possible precautions with tarping, and it still hit us harder than we could ever have imagined. Saying that it is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to shut down the golf course to re-grass everything that mother nature took from us.”
Golfweek named Sweetens Cove the number one rated public-access course in Tennessee.
