Cleveland City Schools staff to receive 5% raise

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Cleveland City Board of Education’s budget for the upcoming school year includes a 5% pay raise for city school employees.

The board approved the 2024-2025 school year budget on Monday, May 6.

A year ago, the board allocated $2.4 million to give full time employees pay raises. That brought a starting teacher’s salary up to $50,000.

The budget also gives a raise to bus drivers and creates new positions to accommodate growing class sizes.

“Ensuring competitive compensation and adequate support for our dedicated staff remains a top priority,” said Interim Director of Schools Kelly Kiser. “With this budget, we affirm our commitment to valuing the hard work and dedication of our educators while also addressing the needs of our expanding student population.”
