HARRISON, Tenn. (WDEF)- Firefighters in Harrison have been battling a house fire Tuesday morning.
Hamilton County Emergency Management says around 10 a.m. Tuesday, they began to receive 911 calls concerning a house fire along Highway 58 just north of its intersection with Snow Hill Road.
That house fire then spread to nearby woods.
This necessitated a large response from the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department, who had to block a lane of traffic on the northbound lanes of the highway to battle the blaze.
They say this was a particularly difficult operation.
Captain Patrick Kellam with the Hamilton County Emergency Management office said, “Resources started working, putting out the fire. There was a defensive only attack initiated which means firefighters couldn’t make entry into the structure due to the volume of the fire that there was. The structure sits back off a road in a heavily wooded area.”
Fortunately there was no one inside the home as it was vacant.
The home is believed to be a complete loss.
The cause of the fire will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
