Lookouts give up 3 run lead to Mississippi Braves
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Lookouts squandered an early lead, falling 6-5 to the Mississippi Braves.
Lookouts starter Kevin Abel, making his debut, pitched a strong 4.1 innings, allowing just one run.
First baseman Nick Northcut provided the early offense with a two-run homer in the first inning, followed by a solo shot in the third to put Chattanooga up 3-0.
Mississippi got on the board in the fifth and then exploded for four runs in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead.
The Lookouts battled back with solo homers from Tyler Callihan and Bubba Thompson to tie the game.
However, disaster struck in the eighth inning.
A double by Cade Bunnell was followed by a costly error that allowed him to reach third.
Another error by Northcut plated Bunnell with the winning run.
