Biscuits Use 4-Run 1st to Top Wreckers/Lookouts 6-1 on Father’s day

CHATTANOOGA, Tenneessee (WDEF)- The Montgomery Biscuits came out swinging on Sunday, putting up 4 runs in the first inning for the second game in a row against the Chattanooga Wreckers (Lookouts) at AT&T Field. The visitors collected 5 hits in the frame, highlighted by a 2-RBI single from Willy Vasquez, before Wreckers pitcher Julian Aguiar struck out two batters to end the inning.

Aguiar bounced back and pitched another 5 solid innings, allowing only 2 more runs on 8 hits. The Wreckers, however, failed to capitalize on their own scoring chances. In the second inning, they loaded the bases with two outs but couldn’t bring any runs home.

Chattanooga finally got on the board in the 8th inning thanks to a single by Quincy McAfee, a stolen base, and an RBI double by Nick Northcut. Northcut’s double was his team-leading 32nd RBI of the season.

Montgomery reliever Carson Rudd shut down the Wreckers for the final 3 innings, lowering his ERA to a team-best 1.93. Since mid-April, Rudd has only allowed 6 earned runs in 36 innings pitched.
