Woman Sues For Being Paid To Do Nothing

A French woman is suing telecom company Orange for allegedly paying her for 20 years without giving her any work. Laurence Van Wassenhove suffers from partial paralysis of her face and limbs. In 2002, when she was transferred to another office, the new location decided to pay her salary instead of accommodating her needs, Wassenhove claims. She says she received payment for 20 years without working. Wassenhove first reported the situation to the High Authority for the Fight Against Discrimination in 2015. “Work for a person with a disability means having a place in society, recognition, social bonds that are created,” her lawyer said.
