Third suspect arrested in Arlington Avenue double homicide case
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police state they have made a third arrest in a double homicide that took place at the beginning of May.
The police department arrested 19-year-old Jonathan Sawyer on Monday, June 17.
Two people, a 19- and 21-year-old, died at the hospital after being shot on Arlington Avenue on May 1.
Now, police have booked Sawyer into the Hamilton County Jail and charged him with the following.
- First-degree murder
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony
- Unlawful possession of a firearm
On June 11, CPD said they arrested 20-year-old Jamarie Jones and 32-year-old Darrisha Danforth in this incident.
Police said Jones pulled a mask over his face and shot toward the victims. They also said he left in a vehicle driven by Danforth.
CPD previously said they charged Jones with first-degree murder and weapons violations. They charged Danforth with accessory after the fact.
Jones was also arrested in April of 2023 for an unrelated shooting on Market Street.
