Oregon Nurse Accused Of Replacing Patient Fentanyl With Water
An Oregon nurse has been accused of replacing patients’ fentanyl with water, which could have resulted in life-threatening infections. Dani Marie Schofield is being accused of taking the drug for her own use. The nurse has pled not guilty to 44 counts of second-degree assault, one for each alleged victim. The hospital noticed something was amiss in December of 2023 due to a spike in central line infections. Hospital officials then informed police of their suspicions that someone was stealing fentanyl, an opioid commonly given to relieve pain. (newser)
