Sheriff: Rossville teen shot while ‘playing with firearm’

ROSSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) — Wednesday morning, Catoosa County deputies arrived on scene at a Rossville home where a 14-year-old was shot, according to the sheriff.

It happened at about 9:30 a.m. at a home on Neal Drive.

According to the sheriff’s office, the 14-year-old and a 12-year-old were playing with a firearm. During this time, the gun discharged, and the 14-year-old was shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found the victim and began life-saving measures with emergency medical personnel.

First responders then took the victim to TC Thompson Children’s Hospital. The teen underwent surgery upon arrival to the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff said, “His condition is guarded.”

The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident.

Authorities said they are not releasing any more details while the investigation is ongoing.
