Driving Our Economy Forward: Big Dog Detail

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Big Dog Detail started working on cars here in Chattanooga back in 2023.  The business is just one of three detailers in the area that is IDA certified.

The company knows exactly what chemicals to use and not use on your car.   They have attended paint correction classes and even worked on planes and the “Weinermobile”.

Owner Wayne Woodman said this about the company:

“We are one of only three detailers in the area. And by area, I mean within a 50-mile radius of Chattanooga that is what they consider IDA certified. You have to take a 100-question written test and pass with an 85% or higher. That test tests you on your ability to comprehend what chemicals you should use on a car, what chemicals you don’t use on a car, how do you neutralize certain chemicals, and how do you treat a car from start to finish. I worked on uh the Oscar Meer wiener mobile. I took a class up in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

So, in Wisconsin, I took a class on learning how to do what they call paint correction. Most people refer to it as buffing and polishing. Essentially, what you’re doing is you’re taking off layers of clear coat to get rid of scratches on a vehicle. I’ve also had the pleasure of working over at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum located in Charlotte North Carolina.”

The company works on boats, RVs, high-end cars and even planes.

Woodman finished by saying, “If you have a dirty car, boat, SUV, or an RV, we don’t judge. We’ll clean it all for you. Heck, we’ll even do the Weinermobile or an airplane for you. Bring it on down! If you have mat, we got your back!”
