Vols Appear at Ease at SEC Media Days

When you return talent, as well as a five star quarterback, you gotta be relaxed at SEC media days. That seemed to be the case for Tennessee, as they wrangled with reporters.

Vols offensive lineman Cooper Mays decided to get into the spirit with SEC media days in Dallas by wearing a cowboy hat.

Said Mays:”I’ve never worn a cowboy hat before. It’s my first time. I was kind of feeling it, so I’m keeping it on.”

Reporter:”You got it branded it looks like?”

Mays:”Yeah they did brand it. My initials and there should be a ‘T’. I don’t know where it all is.”

Mays looking a little like J-R Ewing.
Texas and Oklahoma should expect the SEC to be as ruthless as Ewing Oil as they enter the league this fall.

Heupel:”The difference in this league is why you want to be in this league. Top to bottom it has got the best coaches. Best rosters. Road games are real road games. ”

The two biggest questions for Heupel in Dallas.
His quarterback, and his return this fall to Oklahoma, his college alma mater.

Said Heupel:”It will be unique my viewpoint that day. Just seeing the stadium from a different perspective. I say that simply in change of sidelines. I’m really excited about Nico Iamaleava. His ability to process information in the middle of the football field. Bodies in motion after coverage recognition.”

Nico should be a cool customer at quarterback this season, but will he ever be as cool as his offensive linemen.

Reporter:”Why is it that offensive linemen are usually the best quotes and the most fun guys to talk to on the team.”

Mays:”I would say the O-line is a difference maker personally. We were probably big growing up. There’s only one way to be cool being big and that’s by being a good person and being funny.”
