Sale Creek Wants to Build Off Best Year in School History

Sale Creek, TN-(WDEF-TV) Sale Creek high school took up football some ten years ago, and it’s been a struggle for the small one-A school.
Until last season.
The Panthers enjoy the 30-in-30 spotlight.

Jason Fitzgerald certainly made an impact in his first year at Sale Creek.

When the sun set on the Panthers season, they had won seven games, which was the most in school history.
Said quarterback Khari Escobar:”Having Coach Fitz last year was kind of like a wake-up call for all of us for real.”
Said Fitzgerald:”Yeah we won seven. Problem we have is most people were satisfied around here with seven. We don’t want to be satisfied.”
When you taste success, you always want more. Like a home playoff game.
Said running back Evan Higgins:”Since we’ve never had one here, I want my senior year to be home.”
Just as these Osprey build a nest on the stadium lights at Sale Creek, Coach Fitzgerald hopes to build a team that matches the ferocity of their mascot.
Said Fitzgerald:”I hope that people after they played us knew that they were in a football game. Just trying to change the perception here for the fans and administration. Just wanting them to want more.”
For Sale Creek to enjoy some Panther Power, they’ve got to power up the O-Line.
Said lineman Gauge Nichols:”Offensive line is all new people. I think they’re all going to have to step up and play and practice hard.”
Said Fitzgerald:”There has got to be a mentality there when you play offensive line of toughness. We’ve got some good numbers. Like Bob Knight used to say. If you can’t get it done, you can meet the bench over there.”
