Death Valley Tourist’s Feet Burned On Sand Dunes

A Belgian tourist suffered serious burns on his feet while walking around Death Valley National Park over the weekend. The 42-year-old reportedly lost his flip flops in the sand dunes. “The skin was melted off his foot,” Park Ranger Gia Ponce said. The air was so hot that a helicopter was unable to fly in the area. An ambulance rushed him to a cooler location where a helicopter could come and lift the tourist to a hospital. At the time, the air temperature was 123 degrees. The ground temperature could have been as high as 200 degrees. Death Valley is the driest and hottest national park. (KTLA)
