McCallie Enters Season With New Head Coach and New Quarterback

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) McCallie celebrated a state championship last season.
But now their all-state quarterback has graduated, and their head coach has stepped down.
This just in though, McCallie still has a lot of good players.
The Blue tornado enjoys the 30-in-30 spotlight.

Joel Bradford admits it’s still surreal to be the head coach at his high school alma mater.
Said Bradford:”It’s something that truly is. Give God the glory for that. It was a path I wasn’t really planning on. That’s the good thing about football. The impact it has had on my life.”
Bradford takes over for long time coach Ralph Potter, who will stay on staff as the defensive coordinator.
Said Bradford:”Again it’s a blessing. He was my coach. Now he has become. He was a mentor, and then now he has become a friend.”
Said receiver Carson Lawrence:”It’s almost like having two head coaches out there I feel like. I see both of them as my head coach. It’s great.”
Carson Lawrence feels like he has two head coaches.
Joel Bradford feels like he has two talented players with Carson Lawrence.
Said Bradford:”He’s very athletic. He’s very rangy on the defensive back-end. Offensively, he’s an elite wide receiver.”
Said Lawrence:”Just want to be a guy that coach can ask me to go do anything. On offense I can go get a touchdown. Defense I can make a tackle or get a pick.”
Helps to have a play-maker like Lawrence when you’re breaking in a new quarterback.
Said Bradford:”We’ve got several quarterbacks Elliott Drapeau. He’s going to be a junior. I think he’s going to be a very good player.”
