CPD investigating early morning fatal crash on I-75

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Chattanooga Police (CPD) are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 75 this morning.

At 2:11 a.m, CPD responded to a multi-vehicle accident on I-75.

When officers arrived, they found two drivers and a child passenger with life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers were found deceased at the scene, and the child was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS.

CPD’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Preliminary information revealed one driver operating a Nissan Sentra, was driving the wrong was on I-75, traveling south in northbound lanes.

The other driver was operating a Honda Accord traveling northbound.

The Honda was struck head on by the Nissan.

This caused the Honda to spin out, resulting in a tractor-trailer striking the Honda.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The investigation is preliminary and is subject to change as the investigation continues.
