Ivy Academy student arrested for threat of mass violence at CSAS

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A student at the Ivy Academy has been arrested for making a threat of mass violence towards the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences (CSAS).

On September 4, 2024, the school resource deputy (SRD) assigned to CSAS was made aware of a group text message between current and former students.

This group text involved a threat towards CSAS.

The student had posted several images of schematics for an explosive device, armor-piercing bullets, and requested getting help to obtain a map of the school.

The former student at CSAS involved is currently enrolled at Ivy Academy.

SRD’s from both schools interviewed the student at Ivy Academy.

The student admitted to making the threat was arrested.

They’re currently being held at the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center and is being charged with Threat of Mass Violence.
