Grundy County man arrested for local armed robbery
GRUNDY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Grundy County man has been arrested after committing an armed robbery.
September 17, 2024 at 6:05 a.m., the suspect entered the Town Mart in Gruetli Laager.
The suspect proceeded to point a gun at the clerk and demanded money.
After the clerk gave the suspect $1,500, the suspect proceeded to demand the clerk’s car keys.
The suspect was seen by security footage, driving off in the vehicle.
Grundy County Sheriff’s Office posted in a Facebook post that the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department located the vehicle in the Daus Mountain area, fully burnt.
On September 18, 2024, sheriff’s deputies arrested suspect Charles James Campbell.
While deputies attempted to arrest Campbell, he proceeded to pull out a firearm
Deputies were able to get ahold of before Campbell had a chance to fire it.
Campbell is being charged with the following:
- Aggravated Robbery
- Aggravated Kidnapping
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Aggravated Assault against a police officer
